Characteristics:

– Upward trend.
– First candlestick will be a long white candle that continues the upward trend.
– The second candlestick will black and “gap” up but will not fill in the gap.
– The third candlestick will be black candlestick and fully engulf the second candlestick.

Notes:

– The third candlestick should not fill in the gap, if it does fill in the gap or it closes within
the body of the first candlestick, it changes the name of the pattern.
